Gosh I hate reporting on this kinda stuff.

According to the New York Post, Academy Award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his New York Apartment.

Details are still emerging regarding what exactly caused his death, but sources say he died of a heroine overdose. TMZ is even reporting that he was found with a needle in his arm.  SO TRAGIC.

Phillip has had a long standing struggle with addiction but had been living sober for years until falling off the wagon back in 2012.  He checked himself into rehab last May, for substance abuse, where he underwent detox and quickly got back to work after being released.

He recently appeared at Sundance Film Festival to promote his latest film - God's Pocket.   SUCH an amazing actor he was.  This truly is a huge loss.  He was 46 years old.

Police have confirmed that he died of an apparent drug overdose.

His family has just released a statement saying:

"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone.  This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving.  Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers."

Philip was in the middle of numerous film projects - some that he was acting in, and others he was set to direct.

I know a lot of Hunger Games fans are wondering what will happen with the upcoming Mockingjay flick - as Philip stars as head game maker Plutarch Heavensbee.

The Mockingjay will release in two parts - one of which has already been completed and will hit theaters this November.  Part two was in the process of being filmed and I'm told that the writers and producers are meeting tonight to discuss what to do next - as Philip was just a week away from completing his role in it.
